Rognstad's experience is invaluable to the city

| October 29, 2013 7:00 AM

I feel the coming local election is of utmost importance, the local government makes many decisions that directly affect the function of our great community. Sandpoint City Council currently has three seats open, as well as an upcoming appointment by our mayor, to fill Aaron Qualls’ seat.

Our current council has had many difficult issues to work through, and I for one, feel they have done a good job. The restructuring of our police department, and balancing of the city budget have been executed responsibly.

The progressive stance council has taken, both environmentally, and in regards to human rights, is in alignment with our location and the preservation of our most precious resources: clean air, clean water, and a vibrant healthy community.

I endorse Shelby Rognstad for City Council. As the only incumbent running, Shelby brings experience, leadership, and understanding of current city issues and operations. His experience as a local businessman, years on Planning and Zoning, and his seat on the current city council, all add up to a valuable asset for our community. Shelby is a visionary; his expanded perspective brings creativity and diversity to the way council approaches the problems facing our city. He has done an excellent job as a city councilman; I feel our community benefits from Shelby’s experience and leadership. Please vote Nov. 5.
