Pick wisely, Sandpoint, we are all affected
While most of us in Bonner County don’t live in Sandpoint or vote for Sandpoint City Council, the decisions they make affect us all, and we therefore have a stake in these elections.
Some recent examples:
The Highway 2 curve is now postponed indefinitely (years? decades?) because the council couldn’t compromise with Idaho Transportation Department on some crosswalks. Will we wait as long as we waited for the byway to get Highway 2 rebuilt through town, and reclaim the city streets?
The council also recently approved the construction of what will surely be the only “restricted view” grandstand in our country in quite a while. Those of us who go to football games, the festival, etc. will be stuck with that for the next 50 years. Thanks.
A candidate for council is apparently so upset by the mere conversation of arming some school employees (much less an actual decision) that he’s supporting not only shutting down the discussion but wants to banish the person trying to discuss it. If he’s elected, I hope he shows a much more open mind than demonstrated recently.
Choose wisely, Sandpoint. We’re all affected by the outcome.
