Bulldogs dominate at Libby

LIBBY, Mont. — Sandpoint swept all four cross country races on Saturday at the season-opening Libby Invitational. The boys and girls varsity, and boys and girls JV teams all finished first, with the Sandpoint girls edging Glacier Peak by one point and the boys beating Whitefish by eight points.

Senior Sam Levora won the boys race in a time of 15 minutes and 24.57 seconds, dropping more than 30 seconds off his previous three-mile school record of 15:55, and Mikhaela Woodward was the highest local girls finisher for Sandpoint, placing fourth in 20:08 in the three-mile course.

“This was a great meet to start the season with,” said Bulldogs head coach Matt Brass.  

Sam Powell moved up to No. 14 on the all-time three-mile list with a 17:29, and Jacob Graham moved to No. 16 with a 17:34. For the girls, Woodward moved up to No. 6 all time with a 20:08, Rainey Woodward moved onto No. 14 all time with a 20:50, and Cori McClelland moved onto the list at No. 16 with a 21:11.

Andy McGinness won the JV boys race, and Lauren Orr led the JV girls with a third place finish.
