Chamber's WIB panel looks at male-dominated careers

| September 3, 2013 7:00 AM

SANDPOINT — The Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce hosts its September Women in Business luncheon today.

The luncheon, which will be held from noon-1 p.m., will be held in the community room of the Panhandle State Bank building, 414 Church. The Women in Business Committee is hosting a panel to discuss women in male-dominated jobs with three panelists who have experience in this arena.

There are many challenges when a woman follows her passion and dreams into a career heavily male dominated. The panel is made up of three women who will discuss how the positives have far outweighed the negatives entering such fields. The panelists include Nancy Hadley, D.A. Davidson & Co.; Gina Hall, Alliance Title; and Tish Lagerwey, US Customs and Border Protection.

The Women in Business Committee is collecting items for the Bonner County Homeless Task Force Transitions in Progress Services at the luncheon. Members would like to encourage everyone to bring a donation of school supplies that will be given to the families at Blue Haven for the children heading to school. A free raffle ticket will be given to each person in turn for a school supply donation.

Also, area residents and business leaders are reminded to mark their calendars for the chamber’s fifth annual Empowering Women in Business Conference on Wednesday, Nov. 13, at Coldwater Creek corporate headquarters auditorium. Sponsors are now being accepted for the event.

You must RSVP to this event and you can do so by calling the chamber at 263-2161 or going online to www.sandpointchamber.com. Lunch is $14 for chamber members and $17 for non-members.
