SANDPOINT — Community Cancer Services is the most recent recipient of Winter Ridge Natural Foods Market’s “Bags of Change” program.

Each quarter, Winter Ridge Natural Foods Market chooses a different organization’s local project or service as the recipient of the Bags of Change Grant. The grant is funded when customers bring in and reuse a shopping bag, they can either receive a 10-cent refund or donate their refund to Bags of Change. CCS was the third quarter recipient of Bags of Change. To date, quarterly proceeds have ranged from $250 to $600.

Community Cancer Services is a non-profit cancer resource center that provides support for cancer patients and their families in Bonner and Boundary counties. CCS is a place to find answers to questions about one’s cancer diagnosis, support groups for patients of all ages, financial aid, a boutique of wigs, hats, scarves and post-mastectomy products, a lending library, and yoga classes that emphasize healing; all at no cost to the cancer patient.

Organizations like Community Cancer Services are a piece of the puzzle when it comes to the support cancer patients need. Cancer is a reality for many in our communities and the best way to fight cancer is together.

Applications are now being accepted for the fourth quarter 2013 Bags of Change grants. Complete program information and application forms are available on Winter Ridge’s website at winterridgefoods.com/about/bags-of-change-grant-program/ and from cashiers in the store.
