Martin, Neumann lead Bulldogs at Lewiston
LEWISTON — Taylor Martin smacked 23 kills and Hannah Neumann 22 to lead the Bulldogs to a 4-1 record and second place finish on Saturday at the Lewiston Tournament.
The Bulldogs (4-2) beat Wahi 25-13, 25-12, St. Maries 25-8, 25-9 and Gennessee 25-20, 25-22 to set up a semi-final against 4A IEL rival Moscow.
The Bulldogs dispatched Moscow 25-18, 25-18, advancing to the finals where the reigning 5A state champions and host Bengals were waiting. The Bengals won 25-17 and 25-13 in the final, giving the Bulldogs the first look of three quality looks against an elite squad.
“They’re one of the better teams in the entire state of Idaho,” said Bulldogs head coach Karen Alsager, calling it a good day of volleyball. “I’m a little disappointed we didn’t do better against Lewiston. We’re hoping to fix some defense and get two more cracks at them.”
Kennedy Search tallied a team-high nine aces and 45 set assists, Anna Alsager six blocks, Neumann 27 digs and Mariah Kluver 23 digs.
The Bulldogs will host Post Falls and Gonzaga Prep in a tri-match tonight in a home opener, starting at 4 p.m. at Les Rogers Court.
