Chamber moves health fair to May

SANDPOINT — The Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with Bonner General Hospital, is excited to announce the new date for the sixth annual Community Health and Safety Fair.

Instead of October as in past years, the fair will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, at the Bonner County Fairgrounds. The reason for the change is dynamic, said chamber president Kate McAlister.

“The participants asked for it to be moved, the industry and region typically holds these events in the springtime and we found October wasn’t conducive for citizens,” McAlister said.

McAlister said the health fair is a chance to discover some of the region’s outstanding health and safety businesses and organization. Part health, part safety and this year, part education, the event highlights new businesses you may not be familiar with as well as reliable favorites that have been serving the community for years, she said.

“We’re excited to bolster spring offerings in our community and continue to provide our citizens the opportunity to meet their health care professionals in an out of office setting,” said McAlister.

Admission is free to the fair and it offers something for all ages. McAlister said those attending will have a chance to meet health care and safety professionals in an out-of-the-office setting to get a sense of what is available in Sandpoint. They also will be able to learn about the services community health care organizations offer as well as various on-site affordable testing.

“I hope everyone in our community attends the fair because all of the health care providers will be there answering questions and their services, scheduling patient visits and discussing treatment opportunities,” urged Joy Batchelor, chairperson of Health & Safety Committee of the Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce.

Batchelor said the public should, “come out, have fun, meet us and see what we do. I want families to take advantage of the many free and discounted services we will have available at the fair. Last year’s education seminars were a huge success and make sure you check the list of events and speakers before you come out so you don’t miss the ones which apply to you.”

The fair will features products, services, and expert information from more than 50 health and safety businesses and organizations. There will be topics covered from dental health, senior care, orthopedic care, emergency response services, mental health care, pediatric care, and health care providers.
