Matlosz, Crayne lead Bulldog swimmers at Icebreaker

COEUR d’ALENE — Freshman Kate Matlosz finished second in the 200 free and sixth in the 100 butterfly, and teammate Shanna Crayne was third in the 100 free and fourth in the 100 backstroke to lead the Bulldog swim team on Saturday at the Icebreaker meet at the Kroc Center.

Crayne and Matlosz also teamed with Madi Contor and Cassidy Story to finish third in the 400 free relay, and sixth  in the 200 medley, as high places were tough to come by in the eight team meet.

Madi Ogle, Nikole Alamillo, Galen May and Emily Navarra teamed up to finish sixth in the 200 free relay.

Other top 10 finishes for the Bulldog girls included Contor (4th in 200 IM, 5th in 500 free), Story (8th in 100 back and 9th in 50 free), May (9th in 200 free, 10th in 100 free), Monica Olaso (9th in 100 back) and Madi Ogle (10th in 50 free).

Jacob Sweezy, Clayton York, Ben Reich and Kai Whitley teamed up to finish 4th in the 200 free relay and sixth in the 200 medley relay to lead the Bulldog boys. Sweezy (7th in 500 free, 7th in 100 breast), York (10th in 200 free) and Reich (10th in 100 breast) also notched top 10 places.

Sandpoint hosts Coeur d’Alene on Sept. 25.
