Martin serves Bulldogs past Bears in league battle
SANDPOINT — Sandpoint junior Taylor Martin accomplished an incredibly rare feat in Sandpoint’s 25-10, 25-12, 25-16 dispatching of Moscow during 4A Inland Empire League volleyball Tuesday night at Les Rogers Court.
Martin ran 20 serves in a row at one point, as long a streak as you will see at any level.
“Moscow couldn’t pass her serve or hit around our block,” said Bulldogs head coach Karen Alsager. “It was a good night.”
Emma Liband tallied 10 kills and four blocks for the Bulldogs (12-4, 2-0 4A IEL), who feature one of the tallest teams in years and have multiple players 6-foot-2 or taller in the blocking game.
Mariah Kluver posted 10 digs and Hannah Neumann nine, and Kennedy Search led the team with 14 set assists.
Sandpoint is at Lewiston on Saturday, getting their third crack of the season at the 5A state champs.
n Kiebert sisters power Clark Fork past Noxon
NOXON, Mont. — Lyndsie and Leslie Kiebert hammered 15 kills apiece, leading Clark Fork to a 17-25, 25-22, 25-17, 25-15 win over Noxon in nonleague volleyball on Tuesday in Montana.
Overzealous officiating and nerves proved costly in the first set, before the Wampus Cats (2-2) turned the tide.
“They just needed to calm down a little,” said Cats head coach Cindy Derr. “They were able to dial in on what was going on on the court.”
Annie Wurm had a game-high 41 set assists, Lyndsie Kiebert led the way with 23 digs and Autumn Wagoner returned from a back injury to lead the Cats with two blocks.
“Lyndsie and Leslie both passed nails from the back row,” said Kiebert, who feels Wagoner can be a major contributor. “I’m really pleased that she’s back on the court.”
Clark Fork hosts Lakeside on Thursday.
