Scott scores hat trick in Bulldog blowout
SANDPOINT — Senior Sierra Scott found the back of the net early and often, netting a hat trick in the first half of Sandpoint’s 5-0 win over Lewiston on Thursday in nonleague girls soccer at Pine St. Field.
Scott now leads the Bulldogs (3-3-1) with five goals on the season, emerging as a dangerous force at the top of the attack.
“She’s always capable of that,” said Bulldogs head coach Conor Baranski, who had a chat with his sniper before the game. “I asked her how she felt, and she said ‘great,’ and proved it with her play.”
Emma Weme and Corinne Ariss added goals, Athena Robinson dished out two assists and Nan Kiebert keyed a crisp passing attack, garnering her coach’s praise.
“Her vision is clearly improving, and her passing choices are top rate,” said Baranski. “Our passing was much improved and we had the space to do it.”
Makayla Sundquist stopped eight shots to earn the shutout between the piper, her third of the season.
Sandpoint is at Moscow on Saturday in a big early season 4A North matchup with defending league champion Moscow, a game that often carries implications for hosting districts.
