CLARK FORK — The Wampus Cats had trouble with Lakeside’s serving, falling to the Knights 25-20, 25-21, 25-27, 25-14 in a North Star League volleyball match on Thursday night in Clark Fork.

Freshman Hope Kinney stepped up to the plate at the service line and led the Wampus Cats (2-3, 1-2 NSL) in aces, Annie Wurm guided the team in sets for the night, Autumn Wagoner lead in blocks and Lyndsie Kiebert in kills.

“Service receive and passing was our downfall in the match. We need to get back to practice and just keep working hard,” said Cats coach Cindy Derr, noting this year is less about wins and losses and more about getting to the end and being able to finish strong. “The girls have come a long way from the beginning, they need to realize their accomplishments.”

Francine Hendrickx was credited with 41 digs, two aces and five kills for the visiting Knights (3-2, 2-1 NSL) and Avery Brown-Sonder had 68 assists, six aces and nine kills.

Clark Fork is at Wallace on Tuesday.
