Karen Bowers, we will miss you

Karen Bowers, we will most certainly miss you! After many years of commitment, devotion and dedication, as executive and then artistic director of our well-renowned Panida Theater, Karen recently retired. Oftentimes, she wore so many “hats,” that it looked like she was head-balancing a tower of Chinese, bamboo food boxes, where each box carried a different chore, in order to keep the Panida functioning and up-to-date.

Karen’s excellent choices of U.S. and international films and documentaries provided this small community an artistic, cultural and intellectual haven, sometimes even at the expense of controversy. We are convinced that she added a priceless vitality to the town of Sandpoint.

We thank Karen Bowers for all her work, time and effort, and we will sorely miss her theatrical presence, on-stage, when she announced up-coming films and events, and then introduced us and the audience to the evening’s film. Then, after she walked off, stage-left, with the lights dimming, a new film adventure was about to unfold.
