SAGLE — Encoder Products Company recently was presented the 2012 Administrator’s Award for Excellence by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). The award is given in recognition of outstanding contribution and service to the nation by a small business in satisfying the needs of the Federal procurement system. SBA official James A. Gambardella, Director of the Office of Government Contracting Area VI, noted that the award is a “prestigious honor” and acknowledges EPC as being “..one of our nation’s outstanding small businesses in 2012.”

The SBA award review process was initiated by one of EPC’s customers, Raytheon Company, which nominated EPC for special recognition for its performance as a small business subcontractor. In support of a defense aerospace project involving rotary encoders, EPC provided Raytheon with a wide range of engineering and technical expertise. “Our optical encoder technology was a core competency that Raytheon found very attractive early on,” says John Meschko, Chief Technology Officer for EPC. He adds, “As the project matured, our Custom Solutions Group worked very closely with Raytheon’s staff to develop, qualify and integrate several product performance, manufacturing and testing capabilities specific to their product.”

Encoder Products Company is a leading designer and manufacturer of incremental and absolute rotary encoders. EPC’s products are highly regarded for their quality and innovative design features and are used throughout a wide range of industries including aerospace, industrial machinery, mobile equipment and many others. Established in 1969, the company has manufacturing divisions in the USA, Europe and Asia, with the Americas Division and corporate headquarters located in Sagle.
