Demand Congressional Reform Act's passage

| September 26, 2013 7:00 AM

Congress is completely out of control with their cuts to services to the people while they continue to collect their pay and benefits. It’s time for the American people to unite and demand passage of The Congressional Reform Act of 2013.

A copy of the Act follows:

The Congressional Reform Act of 2013

1. No tenure/no pension. A Congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when out of office.

2. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security. All funds in the Congressional Retirement Fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds slow into the Social Security system and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.

3. Congress may purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.

4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3 percent.

5. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.

6. Congress must abide by all laws they impose on the American people.

7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen are void effective 1/1/2013. The American people did not make these contracts with Congressmen. Congressmen made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term(s) then go home and back to work.

8. Any person, who is related by blood or marriage, to a member of the United States Congress shall not be employed on the staff of any member of Congress.

9. The Congressional Reform Act shall not be changed or amended without a 60 percent vote of approval by the American people.

10. The United States Congress shall not budget more in any fiscal year than was received as revenue the previous fiscal year. Payments received by the Social Security and Medicare funds shall not be included as revenue. Two percent of the annual budget shall be allocated to the reduction of the deficit; an additional two percent of the annual budget shall be allocated to an emergency fund to be used in the event of natural disaster and shall not be used for any other purpose. Reductions to foreign budget allocations, including the United Nations and foreign aid, shall be greater than reductions to domestic budget allocation.

This is how to fix Congress.

If you agree with the above pass it on. If not just ignore it.
