Warriors blank Wampus Cats

| September 28, 2013 7:00 AM

CLARK FORK — Jake Pfeifer threw three touchdown passes, and Simeon Desautel rushed for four scores, as the balanced Warriors blanked the Wampus Cats 50-0 to spoil the Homecoming festivities on Friday night in Clark Fork.

The Warriors controlled the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball, and the Wampus Cats (1-2, 1-1 NSL) had no answer in a game that was called in the fourth quarter due to the 45 point rule.

“This was our third game, and their fifth, and that lack of experience hurt us,” said Cats head coach Brian Arthun. “They were way more physical than we were, and put a lot of pressure on Zach (Nesbitt). We had trouble moving against their front.”

Morgan Willms hauled in two of the scoring strikes from Pfeifer, and Nick Anderson caught the other for the Warriors (3-2).

Despite the one-sided score, Arthun had high praise for the play of lineman Wyatt Stevens in defeat.

“I thought Wyatt played a heck of a game at defensive end,” said Arthun. “Had a couple of sacks and eight tackles, and was really disruptive.”

The Cats will host Lakeside next Friday in a North Star League battle.
