Our government is against the people

| April 1, 2014 7:00 AM

Why do we continue to reelect governors and legislators who enact laws that the majority of citizens have indicated they do not want? Consider.

Now there is nothing to prevent a mentally deranged character or gang member from going to a gun show and buying a machine gun except he could not hide it under his coat. Yet in spite of polls indicating overwhelming support of common sense gun laws, our government caves in to the gun lobby and does nothing. And of course they “know” more about guns on campus than the college presidents and most law enforcement officials.

When the Legislature went along with Mr. Luna by downgrading teachers and approving illegal contracts, the citizens shot down those silly laws by an initiative election. Not to be outdone, the government repealed the initiative and made it much more difficult to get an initiative on the ballot. Now, due to the illegal contracts, we the taxpayers may well be on the hook for an additional $15 million!

Do we really need a one-party government?
