Lengthy legal saga bound for appeal phase

SANDPOINT — A Sandpoint woman entangled in a lengthy legal struggle with authorities in Bonner County was convicted Wednesday of possessing a marijuana pipe.

A jury of four women and two men reached the unanimous verdict in Rita Nancy Hutchens’ case after a little more than a hour of deliberations. Hutchens glanced over at the jury after the verdict was announced, but otherwise had no outward reaction to their conclusion.
