SANDPOINT — With team names like Algebreak You and Pi Powers, local elementary school students clearly meant business at the annual fifth- and sixth-grade Math Olympiad.

An inter-school partnership that joins high schoolers and local elementary students together through the love of math, the Olympiad challenges several teams with brain-teasing questions of calculation and logic. Organized by supervising teacher Nachele Search and Sandpoint High School math students, the Olympiad featured teams from Washington, Sagle, Northside, Kootenai and Farmin Stidwell elementary school. More than 100 competitors showed up for the event.
