Engel leads Bulldog JV at IEL track championships

SANDPOINT — Colton Engel, Dan Steifel, Erik Suhr and Raven Smith teamed up to win the boys 4x100 relay, leading Sandpoint at the Inland Empire League JV track and field championships on Tuesday at Coeur d’Alene High School.

Engel had a strong all-around showing, also finishing second in the high jump and fourth in the 100, and Smith was third in the long jump, as both the Bulldog boys and girls both finished seventh in the overall team standings.

Other top 10 finishes for the Bulldogs boys included Nate Loutzenhiser (fourth in discus, seventh in shot), Tyler Presser (fifth in 200), Quinn Donnelly (sixth in 3,200, ninth in 1,600), Lane Rasmussen (sixth in pole vault), Reilly Wolfe (seventh in 1,600), Slade Rucker (seventh in pole vault), Daniel Radford (seventh in 1,600, eighth in 3,200) and Cole Hooper (eighth in pole vault).

Rounding out the Bulldog girls in the top 10 were Grace Bradley (fourth in long jump, fifth in triple jump, seventh in 100), Reannan Jackman (fourth in shot), Mackenzie Wolfe (fourth in 1,600), Megan Frazier (sixth in 1,600) and Ashton Kinman (sixth in shot, eighth in 100).

The Sandpoint varsity track team will compete in the Rasmussen Invitational on Saturday at Coeur d’Alene High School.
