The whole truth and nothing but …

Sandpoint Mayor Carrie Logan gave a well reasoned, temperate explanation for her concerns regarding the potential increase in coal train traffic — until she dictated that “… coal trains leave a trail of coal dust in their wake …” Several examinations of coal train dust “wakes” have concluded that most coal dust is lost at the point of origin, the mines (freedomworks.org — coal train fight continued) and that quite often what is referred to as coal dust, which is black, is dirt which is brown, or coke, which is not shipped to Asia. Mayor Logan also knows that since June 2012, BNSF has sprayed a surfactant over its coal shipments to further reduce the potential for dust.

Sandpoint would be better if the mayor would not fall victim to the fear mongering and misinformation of radical environmentalists and instead provide the basis for her extreme statement.
