Bears sweep Bulldogs in home doubleheaders

| April 26, 2014 7:00 AM

SANDPOINT — Morgan Bluemer and Breanna Buchmiller each had three hits, but Moscow simply put up too many crooked numbers, beating Sandpoint 13-3 and 17-4 in a 4A Inland Empire League doubleheader on Friday at Sandpoint Middle School.

“Morgan has been a steady, consistent hitter this year, it’s been fun to watch her,” said Bulldogs head coach Derek Dickinson, whose team has little time to recover with another doubleheader at Lakeland on Saturday. “It’s a new day. That’s all we can do is focus on the next one. There’s no time to mope around.”

Topi Elsfelder had two hits for the Bulldogs (3-13, 0-6 4A IEL) in game two, and Makayla Sundquist had two hits. Lucinda Calvert battled on the mound, but 11 errors helped the Bears (8-7, 6-0 4A IEL) jump out to big leads in both games.

Sandpoint is at Lakeland for a league doubleheader today.
