SANDPOINT — A trio of popular forest destinations near Upper Priest Lake remain closed until further notice due to hazardous conditions, according to the U.S. Forest Service.

Unstable trees and soil conditions continue to plague the Stagger Inn campground, the Roosevelt Grove of ancient cedars and Granite Falls.

High winds raked the Priest Lake Ranger District on the night of Aug. 25, 2013, causing several trees to become weakened and damaged. A 200-foot-tall tree toppled onto a tent containing a Sandpoint man and his wife.
