Community's support made event successful
As one of the organizers of the Sandpoint Chautauqua, along with Tammie Martinsen, we’d like to join the all-volunteer New Old Time Chautauqua troopers in thanking the individual donors and Eve’s Leaves and the Co-Op Country Store for generously providing the $5,000 necessary to produce these events in Sandpoint.
Thanks so much to Bob and Debbie for the use of their property for camping and Odies Bayside Grocery for the ice, water and teas to cool the troop. The Farmers Market sponsored the events in Farmin Park and coordinated with local growers that contributed fresh produce and meat for the camp kitchen. The food court provided parking for the troops trucks. Monarch Mountain provided space for a special presentation during the workshops.
Sandpoint Mayor Carrie Logan honored the 100th year anniversary of Sandpoint Chautauqua with a fitting tribute by proclamation read by Kim Woodruff at the community potluck in Lakeview Park where the Bonner County Historical Society & Museum displayed a fabulous exhibit of the early Chautauqua years. Olivia Luther and the museum volunteers are greatly appreciated for this effort.
The city of Sandpoint’s recreation, police and fire departments all helped to make these events work during our busy summer.
A special thanks to the Angels Over Sandpoint volunteers who helped coordinate, and than personally assist, those seniors who were bused into the school auditorium show. Keokee Publishing provided art layout and KRFY aired a great interview and the Bonner County Daily Bee ran four wonderful articles.
And, of course, thanks to all who came and enjoyed the Panida Vaudeville Extravaganza that Saturday night because they provided the bottom line results. Over $5,000 was raised for the Transition in Progress Services housing program for the homeless.
