Bulldogs seeking votes to host Tom's Tailgate
SANDPOINT — Circle Aug. 29 on your calendars football fans, when the Bulldogs host Post Falls to kick off the season.
Not only will SWX be broadcasting the game live on television, but there is currently a vote taking place at KREM 2 to potentially host Tom’s Tailgate Party. The Sandpoint game is going head to head in an online vote with the Lakeland/Lewiston game, and Tom Sherry will broadcast live from whichever game garners the most votes.
To vote for Sandpoint, go to www.KREM.com and search for the Tom’s Tailgate link.
SHS athletic director Kris Knowles is hoping people will vote as often as possible, and sees the potential media coverage as big positive.
“The cameras will be positioned on scissor lifts behind the visitor sideline as to prominently showcase the SHS sideline and the grandstand,” said Knowles, who is encouraging every fan to wear red and white for the opener. “This is a great opportunity to highlight our school, community and (War) Memorial Field regionally, as well as bring attention to the community effort to renovate Memorial. How cool would it be to have two large media outlets broadcasting from Sandpoint during the same night.”
The prep sports season kicks off today when the Sandpoint girls soccer team hosts Post Falls at noon. The Sandpoint football team is also in action, joining Timberlake, Lakeland, St. Maries and Kellogg in a jamboree scrimmage. The action starts at 6 p.m. at Timberlake High School.
