SANDPOINT — As a new year of school draws near, more and more families are feeling the financial sting of outfitting their kids with supplies.

Fortunately, locals have a few angels waiting in the wings to provide help through some tight financial times. For the past 12 years, Angels Over Sandpoint has managed the Back To School program, which helps families ready their students for another scholastic year with each grade’s recommended list of supplies. What began as a simple request to assist a handful of individuals now helps about 800 students.

“Some of these families have two, three, four or five kids, and parents are struggling to buy supplies for all of them,” said Robin Hanson of Angels Over Sandpoint. “It’s a big expense that a lot of families can’t afford.”
