Moose Madness set to ensue in North Idaho
SANDPOINT — Grab the ear plugs and warm up the lungs, as the 7th annual Moose Madness spirit competition between the Bulldogs and Badgers is set to ensue on Dec. 16.
Per tradition, this competition rotates between schools each year, and this season will be held at Bonners Ferry High School. This letter is a request for all Bulldog fans to help support our student body in making this event successful.
Moose Madness is much more than just basketball games, it is a true spirit competition, incorporating many of our talented and dedicated students. The annual B-Cup wrestling match will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 16 in Bonners as part of the Moose Madness activities, and will be calculated in the overall scoring for the event.
Basketball games tip off on Friday, Dec. 19 at 6 p.m., and throughout the evening schools will display their bands, dance teams and cheerleading programs. There will be an artistic moose drawing contest, a moose call contest, a digital decibel reading, as well as a stomp routine performed by students from each school. The judges will award the Moose Madness Trophy to the school with the most spirit at the end of the evening.
This annual event is a wonderful opportunity to teach and display sportsmanship, community pride and unite SHS students for a fun evening. Most importantly, it provides a platform for each school to raise money for charities of their choosing. Sandpoint High School has chosen Toys for Tots to be the recipient of the money raised.
The SHS Student Council is asking that between Dec. 8-18 each 1B class raise money for Toys for Tots. Bulldog fans can help by supporting students in order to achieve our goal and support this noble charity.
Each school will only be allowed 485 tickets for students and fans. Ticket prices are $5 per ticket, with no discount for ASB or Century Club Cards. Senior Citizens are free, but must pick up a ticket beforehand. Tickets will go on sale for students and parents on Monday, Dec. 8 and for the general public on Monday, Dec. 15. Tickets are available at the SHS bookkeeper’s window and at the door Friday night if available.
