CLARK FORK — Leslie Kiebert and Sam Gors each made three shots from beyond the arc, combining for 24 points to lead Clark Fork to a 34-27 win over Hot Springs in nonleague girls basketball on Saturday in Plains, Montana.

Kiebert also posted eight rebounds and four steals, and Lia Crumpton pulled down 10 rebounds to go with five points for the Cats (1-4), who broke through for their first win after a spate of games against bigger schools to start the season. Nona Young scored three and Allison Warner two to round out the scoring for the Wampus Cats, who travel to Mullan tonight for a North Star League opener.

Geoffry Boudousquie scored 10 points and pulled down nine boards, and Brandan Bowen added 10 points and four steals to lead the Wampus Cats, who lost 61-31 to Hot Springs in nonleague boys basketball on Saturday.

Eich Anderson scored three points to go with nine rebounds, Spencer Jeffres scored four and Conorey Vogel and Hunter Boudousquie two apiece in the loss against a solid team. Clark Fork (1-3) head coach Corey Vogel was pleased with his team’s effort, as his squad played well in stretches, outscoring Hot Springs in the third quarter.

The Wampus Cat bigs were blocking out well and controlling the glass, and Bowen and Vogel handled the full court press much of the night.

“We started a little slow, but held our own during the second and third quarters,” described Vogel. “Our confidence was showing on the court and it was fun to watch, but Hot Springs started pouring in the shots in the fourth and ran away with it. The subs played well when they were in, and everyone got to play.”
