COEUR d’ALENE — A Blanchard man accused of posing as a U.S. Forest Service official in a bid to acquire 240 acres of timberland pleaded guilty Thursday to a reduced charge.

Peter Todd Gokey was indicted by a federal grand jury earlier this year for false personation of a federal official. The indictment alleged that Gokey used the ruse in 2013 in an attempt to obtain a quitclaim deed for the property, which is located off Edgemere Road in Bonner County’s Hoodoo Valley.
