Parks and Rec youth basketball teams forming

SANDPOINT — Another exciting season of youth hoops is on tap, as Sandpoint Parks and Rec basketball continues to put the fun in fundamentals for area boys and girls in grades 3-8.

The deadline to register is Jan. 5, and the fee is $35 per player, with a $5 discount for city residents. Family rates are also available. A Sandpoint youth sport jersey is also required to play, and they can be purchased at the Parks and Rec office for $14. Partial scholarships are also available to help with registration fees.

Play in this program will be divided into teams based upon grade and gender: 3rd/4th grade girls; 3rd/4th grade boys; 5th/6th grade girls; 5th/6th grade boys; 7th/8th grade girls; and 7th/8th grade boys. Teams will practice once a week at an area school and play their Saturday games at Sandpoint Middle School.

The season begins Feb. 7 and ends March 14. The meeting for volunteer coaches will be held on Thursday, Jan. 22 and Friday, Jan. 23 at 5:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers.
