Badger boys and girls power past Wampus Cats

| February 5, 2014 6:00 AM

BONNERS FERRY — First the good news: The Clark Fork boys basketball team shot more than 50 percent from the field.

Now for the bad news: They also shot 0-19 from beyond the arc.

Add it up, and it resulted in a 54-41 loss to the Badgers in nonleague basketball Tuesday night at Bonners Ferry High School.

Geoffry Boudousquie notched a double-double, scoring a team-high 16 points to go with 10 boards to lead the Wampus Cats (4-12).

“He was getting his quick shot off,” said Cats head coach Corey Vogel. “It’s the best game he’s had, with all around hustle.”

Tristin Bristol scored 12 points to go with 12 boards, as the Wampus Cats scored all but two of their points in the paint.

“If we had any kind of outside game, we would have been right with them,” lamented Vogel. “We have to work on our shooting. It’s been our achilles heel all year.”

BONNERS FERRY — With a team battling sickness, the Wampus Cat girls simply didn’t have the stamina to stay with the Badgers, falling 43-20 on Tuesday night in nonleague girls basketball at Bonner Ferry High School.

Lyndsie Kiebert tallied 10 points, seven rebounds and four steals, but the Wampus Cats (1-16) managed just three points in the second and third quarters, playing the Badgers even in the other two frames.

“We have a bunch of sick girls, and it’s possibly the worst game we’ve played all year,” said Cats head coach Mark Stevens, praising the play of Kiebert, who has scored 38 points in the last two games. “She’s working hard to create her shot.”

Annie Wurm scored five and Callie Potter added four steals in defeat.

Desirae Miner scored 13 to lead the Badgers.

Clark Fork plays at Wallace on Thursday.
