WALLACE — Callie Potter scored 14 points and Lyndsie Kiebert added 12 points and three steals to lead Clark Fork, which played its best game of the season in a 43-40 loss to league-leading Wallace in North Star League girls hoops on Thursday at Wallace High School.

Leslie Kiebert added eight points and nine rebounds for the Wampus Cats (1-17, 1-7 NSL), who will take the momentum of a solid performance into the district tournament. Annie Wurm scored four points and Alicia Heigis two in the loss to the Miners (14-4, 8-0 NSL).

“They’re the No. 1 team in the league, I was happy to stay with them. We had chances at the end to tie it, but made silly turnovers on two possessions,” said Cats head coach Mark Stevens, lauding his team’s interior defense. “Annie and Alicia played their 6-2 post tough down low defensively.”

Clark Fork plays Mullan on Monday night in the 1A Division II tournament opener at Lake City.
