Gagnon goes off, but Bulldogs fall to Trojans
POST FALLS — Senior Jeremiah Gagnon had the hot hand from long range, draining six 3-pointers as part of his game-high 28 points, but it wasn’t enough as the Bulldogs lost 67-54 to Post Falls in nonleague boys basketball Thursday night at the Arena.
The Bulldogs (8-8) came out sharp, building a three-point halftime lead, before getting outscored 38-22 in a one-sided second half.
“Sandpoint jumped on us early,” said Trojans coach Mike McLean. “I thought we were playing their game. In the second half, I thought we did a better job of executing our stuff and play at the style we play.”
The Trojans (12-6), who won their fourth game in a row, made 15 for 16 from the free-throw line for a 94 percent clip. Dalton Thompson led Post Falls with 24 points and five rebounds.
Cooper Spalding added a season-high 12 points in defeat, and Chase Rodriguez dropped in nine, combining with Gagnon to score all but five of the Bulldogs’ points.
Sandpoint hosts Moscow in a 4A IEL game tonight, with tip-off slated for 6 p.m. at Les Rogers Court.
