Knights run wild over Wampus Cats on Senior Night

CLARK FORK — Doug Schatz poured in 29 points, leading Lakeside to a convincing 96-33 win over the Wampus Cats on Tuesday night in North Star League boys basketball at Clark Fork High School.

The Knights (15-4, 7-0 NSL) shot a sizzling 62 percent from the field, opening a big lead and building it up until the final horn.

“Everything they were shooting was going in,” said Cats head coach Corey Vogel. “They’re the class of the league, but Kootenai and Mullan are who we need to beat.”

Tristin Bristol led the Wampus Cats (4-13, 1-6 NSL) with 10 points and eight rebounds, Ben Bahr added 11 points, including a 3-pointer, and Zach Nesbitt four points and three assists in defeat.

“Ben was flying all over the place. We played well at times,” said Vogel, who felt the Knights were hungry for a big win after the Cats beat them twice last season. “They kept their starters in. We stayed classy. They came on our senior night with the sole purpose of stuffing it down our throat.”

Clark Fork is at Wallace on Feb. 18.
