Gun laws are the real danger in America

| February 18, 2014 6:00 AM

Gun laws are the danger.

Belief in some facts are necessary to draw this conclusion.

Afghanistan is much larger and has far more population than the south side of Chicago. American deaths attributed to the war in Afghanistan from 2001 until 2008 during the Bush tenure averaged 60 annually. From 2008 to the present during Obama’s stint, deaths have averaged 298 per year.

Contrast this number with the Chicago murder rate which stands at an average of 508 per year over the same time period.

Remind yourself of Chicago’s much smaller population and realize a young man in Afghanistan during a war is far less likely to die from violence than the same youngster in Chicago.

There are far more weapons including assault weapons over there than here. Chicago has voluminous onerous gun laws regulating firearms and Afghanistan has none.

Can anyone see another reason why we have this discrepancy except that gun laws are responsible by making it difficult for an honest citizen to protect themselves.

It just makes it easier on the criminal to rob and kill his unarmed prey.
