Whistleblower trial under way

SANDPOINT — A Bonner County jury is expected to hear closing remarks Friday in a whistleblower lawsuit filed by a former heavy equipment foreman on the Sand Creek Byway project.

Jurors began hearing Jay Nelson’s suit against Parsons RCI and the Idaho Transportation Department in 1st District Court on Monday.

Nelson, a Rathdrum resident, contends Parsons wrongfully terminated his employment with the company after he reported safety lapses during the mass-excavation phase of the $106 million U.S. Highway 95 rerouting project.
