Motorist dies in collision with train

| January 1, 2014 6:00 AM

SAGLE β€” A motorist was killed Tuesday after her vehicle was struck by a northbound BNSF Railway train at an at-grade crossing on the east side of U.S. Highway 95

Idaho State Police said Kaitlin Marie Brosh was driving eastbound on Heath Lake Road when she failed to yield to the oncoming train. The 1998 Subaru Legacy station wagon was struck and Brosh was partially ejected from the vehicle, state police said.

The collision occurred at about 4:25 p.m.

It’s the second time a motorist has been killed in a collision with a train in Bonner County since November.

Kayle Porter, 19, was killed on Thanksgiving at an at-grade railroad crossing on Elmira Road.

Neither of the crossings where the fatalities occurred are equipped with crossing arms, although there are railroad track warning and stop signs.
