We must work toward Medicare for everyone
Kudos to Stephen Drinkard for his article of Dec. 29. My experience can only buttress his conclusion that we should support Obamacare and work toward Medicare for all.
Last year I learned that my health insurance policy was full of holes. After six months of ill health, had I fallen seriously ill my husband and I would have lost our house. I was unaware that I had such a “swiss cheese” policy. The “out-of-pocket” cap turned out not to be a cap on my pocket! For inadequate coverage, I paid almost $7,000 a year!
I used to think that people who went bankrupt because of health costs didn’t have any insurance. Not.
Now my husband and I have an ACA policy. In the case of medical catastrophe, we will not pay more than six thousand and some dollars (apiece). No cap! Our house, and our way of life here in heaven are safe.
Not only that, but the cost of the insurance, instead of rising to more than $1,000/month (for two), is now about $75. (We are eligible for a subsidy.)
I know of at least two insurance agents in Sandpoint who are happy to help anyone with the federal website: Autumn at Taylor Insurance and Amy at Pend Oreille Insurance are among many others who can sign you up.
