Shock isn't the way to get your message out

I am all about freedom of speech and one’s right to protest — whatever side you are on. But, there is a better way than the “shock and awe” method I saw Monday.

As a mother, I was terribly upset at the folks protesting abortion with a poster sized picture of a late-term aborted fetus at the entrance to the middle school and high school. How about the little kids from elementary school riding the bus that got to see that?

Promoting nightmares and destroying their innocence is not the way to go about getting your message out. It’s irresponsible and, quite honestly, deplorable for them to do that. Shame on them and shame on the Lake Pend Oreille School District for allowing it.
