Bristol, Bahr power Wampus Cats to win

| January 10, 2014 6:00 AM

COEUR d’ALENE — Tristin Bristol and Ben Bahr had strong games on the blocks, and Jaden Taylor hit two huge 3-pointers in the fourth quarter to propel Clark Fork to a 36-34 win over Coeur d’Alene Charter in a nonleague defensive slugfest Thursday night in Coeur d’Alene.

Bristol scored 17 points to go with 11 rebounds and five steals, and Bahr just missed a double-double with nine points and 14 boards, as the two controlled the game from the paint.

“He’s a beast down there,” said Wampus Cats head coach Corey Vogel of Bristol. “He and Ben got 12 offensive boards between them, and those were big.”

Jaden Taylor didn’t score until the fourth quarter for the Wampus Cats (2-5), but his two 3-pointers were daggers in a game that was tight from start to finish.

“I’ve been trying to get him to look for the open shot,” said Vogel of Taylor. “We pressed the whole game. Holding Adams to 13 points was pretty good defense.”

Jake Aguirre dished out four assists for the Cats.

Chris Adams scored 13 points to lead the Panthers (1-8) in defeat.
