Kinderhaven founder lived life in technicolor

| January 14, 2014 6:00 AM

It’s so difficult to imagine this community without her because she was such a formidable force of nature, with the ability to see a need, envision a solution, and then transform it into reality.

Kinderhaven is one of the many legacies she leaves behind. She was both a founder of our organization and its board president for more than 10 years. Even after she left the board, she always watched over us, wanting to know how we were doing and whether we needed anything.

She was passionate about children, and in the entire seven years I knew her, even during her illness, she always asked about the children in our care. They were never far from her heart and thoughts.

I greatly admired her energy, her intellect and creative mind, her caring about the welfare of others, and her zany sense of humor. She loved to have fun. She was an incredible person and leaves behind many children whose lives have been forever changed for the better because of her.

I personally will miss her tremendously, and all of us at Kinderhaven most definitely will miss her caring and guiding presence. Marsha did not exist in muted tones of grey but lived in full, blazing technicolor. We are so fortunate to have had her in our lives and are honored to carry on one of her legacies.

On behalf of Kinderhaven board members and staff,
