Amanda Lowrey is exemplary huntress

| January 23, 2014 6:00 AM

With all the tragic stories about our some of our local young people in the news lately, I want bring something positive to everyone’s attention. Sandpoint resident and mom, Amanda Lowrey, won the prestigious 2014 Extreme Huntress competition

Amanda represented herself extremely well in this national event and, quite frankly, deserved to win. Please go to extremehuntress.com, and check out Amanda’s statement under the “finalists” tab. You will find clarity of thought and articulation of expression. You will see a genuine love of hunting. Check out the episodes, and you will see a class act. On the radio, you will hear an articulate young mother. Most of all you will encounter a lady who represents the best of the hunting community in North Idaho.

Amanda’s family and the Sandpoint hunting community should be also recognized for bringing up such a fine young woman. In the competition, Amanda presented herself with grace — even elegance. She showed a high degree of skill, along with a great attitude. She is also one heck of a shot. Amanda even gave up one of her hunts to a fellow contestant who had been unsuccessful. During one of the timed completions, she stopped to pick up an antler shed! Only an extreme huntress would do that!

While we all mourn the recent loss of so many young and promising lives, we can all be grateful that there are still many exemplary young adults, like Amanda Lowrey, in the Sandpoint area.
