Thunder battle in Mountain Christian League hoops

KOOTENAI — Taryn Osman scored six points to lead the Kootenai Thunder girls, who lost 52-14 to  the North Idaho Christian School Royals this week in Mountain Christian League basketball at the Hub in Liberty Lake. Gracie Jones added four points, and Tessa Murray and McKayla Montgomery two apiece in defeat.

The Thunder then took on the Christian Heritage School Patriots in Edwall, Wash., losing 46-16. Tessa Murray led the way with eight points, Osman added six and Montgomery two for the Thunder.

The Thunder boys continued their stellar season facing off against North Idaho Christian School recently. The Royals hit a last second three point shot to take down the Thunder 47-44 in a tough loss.

Curtis Roop scored a team-high 13 points to lead the Thunder, T.J. Alsager chipped in 10 points, Shayne Jensen eight, Zac Couch seven, Joel Crosby six and Jimmy Soderberg two in the hard luck loss.  The Thunder then traveled to Edwall to take on the Christian Heritage Patriots, bouncing back to win 48-38 and bring their record to 7-3 in MCL play.

Scoring for the Thunder were Crosby with 11 points, Alsager and  Roop with 10 points each, Jensen with eight, Joel Smith with six and Jason Roop with two in the solid win.
