Lesson from the life of Jesus
To the super-rich and the tea party puppets on their strings — this message from Reza Aslan, author of “Zealot: The Life and Times of Jesus of Nazareth” given at the conclusion of the interview at the Commonwealth Club of California.
“What lesson can we learn from this poor, pious peasant … It’s all about this confrontation with power … espoused in his words, in his actions, in his life, in his death — options for the poor — the poor, the weak, the marginalized. That’s all he cared about. Anyone who uses Jesus to empower himself politically or to enrich himself economically is betraying the legacy of Jesus, betraying what it means to be a follower of Jesus.”
