'Radical Rick' makes science cool

SANDPOINT — Everyone knows science is useful, but blow up a few balloons in a spectacular fireball and it suddenly becomes cool.
It’s all in a day’s work for Rick Turner, better known to kids across Idaho and Washington as Radical Rick. Through televised demonstrations, public assemblies and school programs, he gets students excited about science by demonstrating some of its most amazing capabilities. His most recent presentation took place at the Sandpoint Library Monday evening, where he displayed some of the magic possible with a simple tweak to air pressure or gas composition.
