Introduction to lake kayaking class offered

SANDPOINT — If you’ve ever wanted to learn the relaxing and lifetime activity of kayaking on the lake, now is the time to act.

An introduction to lake kayaking skills class is being offered on Wednesday, July 16 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at City Beach for students 14 years-old and up. Beginners or those seeking a refresher course are welcome to attend.

Students will learn how to adjust a P.F.D. and kayak for fit and comfort, different safety equipment and proper use, getting in and out with style, basic paddle strokes, recovery techniques, and much more.

Participants will need to bring a paddle skirt, pump, paddle float and bring or rent their own boat. Boats should have a least one sealed compartment (preferably two).

The class fee is $22 ($2 city discount). Pre-register by July 11 at Sandpoint Parks and Recreation, located at 1123 Lake St.
