Paddle with finesse: Women on the water

SANDPOINT — Join ACA Level II Kayak Touring instructor Shawna Kennaly on Saturday, July 19, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at City Beach for a sea kayak safety and rescue course designed specifically for women ages 16 years-old and up.

Review efficient paddle strokes with proper technique and learn several basic sea kayak rescues in a safe, fun and encouraging environment.

Participants must bring an appropriately fitted life jacket, kayak with spray skirt, paddle, paddle float, bilge pump, proper clothing and be prepared to get wet. A water bottle and a snack are also advised. Bring a lunch if you plan to paddle after the course with all the new friends you meet.

The class fee is $22 ($2 city discount). Pre-register by July 11 to guarantee your spot in the class at Sandpoint Parks and Rec (1123 Lake St.).
