Woman killed in police-involved shooting
SANDPOINT — A woman in her 20s was killed late Tuesday night in an officer involved shooting, according to the Bonner County EMS run report.
The woman was shot in the chest. She has not been identified by authorities.
The incident took place near Bonner General Health in Sandpoint.
Details about the incident are barebones at this point, however bystanders on the scene Tuesday night told a Bonner County Daily Bee reporter that the woman may have threatened officers with a knife prior to the shooting.
Authorities said the shooting took place about 9:30 p.m.
The Bonner County Sheriff's Office, which is being stretched thin because of being the primary investigator in the l-90 shooting which took place on June 22, is in charge of the investigation.
The officers involved in the shooting also have not been identified, however because BCSO is lead investigator and the incident took place in Sandpoint, most likely the officers involved were with the Sandpoint Police Department.
An updated report from the Bonner County Sheriff's Office is expected later today. Check the Bonner County Daily Bee's Thursday print edition for more details.
