Appeal denied in court case

SANDPOINT — A Sandpoint man who was given several chances to get his life squared away after a felony domestic violence conviction lost his appeal for a lesser sentence.

Nathen Lee Smith pleaded guilty to attempted strangulation in 2009 and was ordered to serve a two- to six-year sentence. First District Judge Steve Verby, however, retained jurisdiction over Smith, also known as a rider.
