Second session of youth swim lessons offered
SANDPOINT — Sandpoint Parks and Recreation swim lessons are designed to teach sound swimming skills to students of all abilities, with a special emphasis on water safety.
The second session of youth swim lessons will be held for two weeks on Aug. 4-7 and 11-14, with classes offered for any and all area youth between the ages of 1-12 years-old.
The lessons are held on Monday through Thursday for two weeks in the open water at City Beach, with Fridays reserved for rain make-ups. A parent letter detailing procedure for classes canceled due to weather will be provided at registration. Please look for it, and review it before classes begin Aug. 4.
Swim lesson offerings include:
n Parent and Tot Class for ages 1-3 years-old begins at noon each day. Parents must get in the water with their child for this class.
n Perch Class for ages 3-5 years-old begins at noon.
n Perch Class for ages 3-5 years-old begins at 1 p.m.
n Rainbow Trout Class for ages 6-12 years-old (beginner through competent floaters) begins at 2 p.m.
n Kokanee Class for ages 6-12 years-old (competent floaters through advanced) begins at 3 p.m.
Registration for Session No. 2 swim lessons will be held on Thursday, July 31 and Friday, Aug. 1 from noon to 3 p.m. on the grass in front of Trinity at the Beach. First come, first served.
The Parent and Tot class fee is $27 per session (25 minutes/day) or a family rate of 2 kids/$48, or 3 kids/$73.
Perch, Rainbow Trout and Kokanee class fees are $37 per session (40 minutes/day) or a family rate of 2 kids $65, or 3 kids/$96. City Residents receive a $3 discount per child from above listed fees. Partial scholarships will be available. Kids need not be present at registration.
