Kayaking skills class announced

SANDPOINT — An introduction to Lake Kayaking Skills is being offered on Wednesday, July 30 for and and all students 14 years-old and up. Beginners or those seeking a refresher course are welcome.

Students will learn to adjust a personal flotation device and kayak for fit and comfort, different safety equipment’s proper use, getting in/out with style, basic paddle strokes, recovery techniques, and much more.

Participants will need to bring a paddle skirt, pump, paddle float and bring or rent their own boat. Boats should have a least one sealed compartment, and preferably two. The class fee is $22 ($2 city discount). Class will be held at City Beach from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m.; meet near the boat launch.

Pre-register by Monday at Sandpoint Parks and Recreation, located at 1123 Lake St. in Sandpoint.
